Available Kittens / Cats

ADOPTED 10/17/2023

RESCUE Available: ADOPTED
Senior Abyssinian – Neutered Ruddy Male, FeLV/FIV Negative. Litter-box trained.
Due to his age we consider this a special needs adoption. He needs a family or person that can give him the best life for his Senior years, and show him he is in a safe forever home that will accept his overwhelming need to be loved.

Need:
-Only fur pet in home.
-No dogs, no other cats.
-He does like tiny children/toddlers who are pet savvy and seems to understand they are little.
-Ideal home would be a home with a retired person or persons, or someone who works from home.
-Home that is willing to keep him on a raw food diet.

Meet Stubby. Stubby is not the first Abyssinian to come into our rescue that is missing most of his tail, but he is the first one we have named after that feature. 🙂 Stubby is a hidden gem. He is a sweet boy who came to our rescue as a Feral Cat and as part of our counties Trap Neuter Release Program or TNR. He was so wild and untouchable that it was obvious why he was deemed not adoptable as a house cat. We considered placing him as a barn cat, where he could be safe and fed on a working farm, while still feeling his safety of distance from people. However, he has been with us for a while now and at the end of August he changed. He wanted to be affectionate, he wanted love, he wanted to follow you, he wanted attention, attention, attention. WHAT??? We were in shock it was truly an overnight change. He made a complete 180 turn around. Now he can’t get enough love and affection, we are not kidding. This could even get annoying to some. As for us here, we think he is trying to make up for a decade of not knowing what it felt like to be loved. Now that he is so affectionate and gets on our laps and head butts us, we have discovered he is mostly blind or completely blind, you cannot tell by his eyes because they look fine. His pupils react to light so we know he can at least see light and tell if it is dark. Being blind has not seemed to affect him. After a few days he learns his surroundings quite well.

We know he must be at least 11 or 12 years old. He doesn’t look it though. He has the nicest thickest lush fur coat, it is dark and absolutely beautiful. He has beautiful green eyes. He is litterbox trained. He has the loudest purrrrr!

This amazing guy does have a very old microchip in him that is from at least 11 years ago. It was never registered with a person, and the vet who placed it could not find a record for who he belonged to. Because of this we have not been able to find a family that may have lost him years and years ago. Because Stubby was so feral/wild, he was neutered and had the tip of his ear removed so that any person who sees him would not catch him because of the universal sign (tipped ear) that he has been neutered and vaccinated and is a feral cat. However, he is has lost his “feral-ness”. YAY.
